Every Tuesday there is a competition - not that you have to play in it. There are medal and stableford competitions arranged every month and also various trophy and four ball competitions, ‘draw for partners’ and fun events.
We have starting sheets each Tuesday and tee-off times are generally between 08.30-10.00am in 2 balls. If you should need to find a play mate’, there is a ‘partners wanted’ sheet on the hallway noticeboard or you can ask the Lady Captain to request a partner for you.
After play on Tuesday, most people stay for lunch. This is an ideal opportunity to meet others - Rochford Ladies are a friendly bunch. Notices are given out afterwards as there is always information that needs to be relayed.
There are 5 ‘Big Days’ during the year when we play 27 holes. Ladies also meet up at Sunday lunchtime to take part in medals, trophy events or a friendly round of golf, as well as rolling up on Thursday and Friday mornings.
We participate in the Munro Foursomes, Silver Shield and the Bronze Shield. We also have friendly matches and several mixed events against local clubs, as well as ‘weekend breaks’. Every new member is assigned a liaison officer who will be there to help and assist you in every way possible. She will try to answer all your questions and help you to get several games booked up.
Rochford Ladies have a thriving Bridge Section. A winter league takes place between November and March, although some ladies play throughout the year. If you don’t know how to play, but would like to learn, informal lessons are available on a Friday afternoon during the winter months.
Overall, one of our priorities at Rochford is that you enjoy your golf no matter what handicap you play off.
